Space and the Artist

I thought a few of you might be interested in this clip posted on the Tate's website, where Christo discusses his ideas of space, and how his projects alter public spaces and buildings. I was fascinated by the idea of a 'lost art' - perhaps we could link it to graffiti - where the artwork, or rather, art performance or project, is designed, created and produced with a pre-conceived awareness of its temporary nature. This brings forward the question, 'how do we retain and capture these artworks, so that we can view them in our traditional 'art historical' methods of viewing, in museums, galleries, etc?' In capturing them on film or photography do we lose the essence of the work, that being its fleeting nature?
A really interesting interview.
